Mental workout

A mental workout is training your mind to control your thoughts and reach a higher awareness. This is very difficult at first but the more you work out your brain the easier it is to push unwanted thoughts aside. Meditation is my mental workout.  I practice every day and have accomplished great things. Anxiety used to control me but I now control anxiety. Did you know anxiety can be triggered by subconscious thoughts? Well it is true, your body can be controlled by a thought you do not know you are thinking.  Mental workouts can help you find these thoughts and diminish them. I am thankful I found meditation and have more control over my mind and body than ever.

    Mental workouts are exercise for your brain. This is necessary for us to control our thoughts and feelings. It can be a difficult exercise for those who are just beginning. Meditation is a great way to exercise your brain. I agree that anxiety can be caused by unconscious thoughts. I had my first panic attack in my sleep after my mother passed. It is amazing how the brain works. I have been diligently working at maintaining positive thoughts throughout my day. This has been a challenge but I feel better and more aware of my thoughts and actions.

  2. Adrian, you sound very much like me. I have had issues with anxiety and it is usually caused by a thought that I didn't even realize that I was thinking. I started taking Saint John's wort (an herb) which has helped a lot. Still, I'd rather take nothing so I'm really working on meditation....I haven't been at it long enough yet, but I'm making progress in quieting my mind. Eventually I will start phasing out the medication.
